I fell in love with this drink when I was on holiday in Japan and spent a few relaxing days in Okinawa. The hotel had a not-too-shabby cocktail bar, and this was one of the house specials. 

The Sidecar balances three strongly-flavoured ingredients - the kick of the brandy is tempered by the Cointreau, and lemon juice provides a powerful citrus overtone. 

Not one for the faint-hearted. 

Ingredients

The Marvellous Method

Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into chilled martini glasses. Garnish with lemon peel.
