Champagne Cocktail

This is one of the easiest drinks in our repertoire, and as such makes for a great opening drink when hosting.

Be warned though – the brandy can creep up on you pretty quickly. On more than one occasion I’ve tucked into these too early, and ended up with a stinking hangover at 6 o’clock in the evening.

Don’t feel like you need to splash out on the finest Champagne here – a decent Prosecco or Cava will do just as well. In short – If you’re happy drinking it on its own, it’s good enough to use in a cocktail. (And if you’re not happy drinking it – drop in a little extra brandy.)

Ingredients

  1. 1 Sugar Cube

  2. 2-3 Dash Angostura Bitters

  3. 1 msr Brandy

  4. Champagne

The Marvellous Method

Place the sugar cube in a champagne flute. Soak bitters into the sugar cube, then add the brandy.

Top up the glass with your favoured sparkling wine.

Add a cocktail cherry and serve.
