Dark and Stormy

Staggering drunk into The Antelope in Tooting, South London, with no real idea of what I wanted to drink, I gave the barman the brief of ‘an interesting rum-based drink’. This is what I was eventually served (after rejecting a couple of suggestions).

Easy to make and my Irish friends frequently drink this by the pint.

Ingredients

  1. 2 msr

  2. ½ msr

  3. 3 msr

  4. Dash of Angostura bitters

  5. Lime wedge to garnish

The Marvellous Method

To get the two-tone effect:

First, add the lime juice and ginger beer to a chilled highball glass.

Fill with a good amount of ice, then add the rum slowly over the back of a spoon. Top the glass with a good dash or two of the bitters.

Sit back and appreciate the clouds rolling in, but remember to stir before before drinking, else the rum will hit you in a single mouthful. Better to stretch out that rummy goodness.
